The 5th ASEAN Refining & Petrochemical Forum was a great success, building on the 2018 event at the same venue. Over 120 participants from the global and regional downstream industry attended. The event was supported by the leading local players PT Pertamina and PT Chandra Asri who gave enlightening insights to the Indonesian refining and petrochemical industry including mega project developments and energy projects planning. Further to the local key players participation, regional refiners and petrcoehmical companies from Malaysia, China, Myanmar, Japan and India had presented interesting topics concerning the industry.

At the opening of the event, Indonesian energy regulator ESDM had nominated XXX to give a special remark, highlighting the countries’ policy and regulations effort to facilitate growth in this sector, after INAplas Chairman Mr. Didik Susilo’s and Mr. Vinayak R Marathe welcome remark. 

Refining and chemicals Integration and the upcoming mega refineries in China and it’s dynamics on the ASEAN refining market were presented by WoodMackenzie and ICIS speakers Mr. Sushant Gupta and Mr. Kun Chen. These two very interesting presentations were impressive.

PT Pertamina’s presentations by Mr. Ignatius Tallulembang, Director of Refinery and Petrochemical Megaproject and Mr.Heru Setiawan, Director of Investment Planning and Risk Management, PT Pertamina (Persero) were very impressive, highlighting the pressing business challenges facing Pertamina, updates and development of refinery master plan and energy projects under planning. 

Event audiences had also listened to very inspiring presentations from PT Bukit Asam, PETRONAS, ENI, Myarman Petrochemical Enterprise, Reliance Industries Ltd, IPCO and Piller on various topics such coal-chemical project development, greenfield refinery, refinery & industry 4.0 etc..

Focused content at the 2nd day conference was digitalization, presented by David Turner, MD of Recourses2Energy Ltd and Mr. Taveesuk Sayasilapee, Digital Strategy Vice President, PTT Public Company Limited. Technology licensors SINOPEC and LyondellBasell had presented on MTO, Olefin and Polyolefin production technologies. Speaker from Stratas Advisors has shared on global fuel quality development and impacts on SE Asia refiners. Speakers from Cosmo Oil and PERONAS had presented on processing heavy sour crude.
